College students are experiencing record levels of loneliness and disconnection, with serious implications for mental health and academic success. In this research-informed talk, Dr. Linda Lin examines the psychological and social barriers that inhibit friendship formation, including cognitive biases, shifting social norms, and post-pandemic changes in campus life. Drawing from research on well-being and social connection, she translates empirical findings into actionable strategies for fostering belonging and friendship among students.
