The Anne Anastasi awards, named for APA past-president and funded by the Anne Anastasi Foundation, are given to two outstanding psychology graduate students, one in the first two years of graduate study and the second in more than two years of graduate study.

Zexi Zhou
Zexi Zhou is a fifth-year Ph.D. candidate in Human Development and Family Sciences at the University of Texas at Austin. Her research investigates daily stress and adaptive processes in aging, with a particular focus on the interplay between sleep and psychosocial experiences in older adults’ everyday lives. She is also interested in understanding intergenerational ties across the lifespan through a biopsychosocial lens. Her work integrates multiple methods, including self-report surveys, neuroimaging, and ambulatory assessments such as ecological momentary assessment (EMA), accelerometry, and naturalistic audio recordings. By bringing together neurobiological basis, physical rhythms, psychological experiences, and family relationships, her work addresses urgent questions about how individuals and families can adapt, stay healthy, and maintain quality of life across generations in this era of rapid population aging.

Dr. Alexandria Onuoha
Dr. Alexandria Onuoha graduated in May 2025 from Suffolk University in Boston earning her PhD in Applied Developmental Psychology. She is a developmental scientist and started as an Assistant Professor at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville in August of 2025. Her research and advocacy focus on the well-being of Black youth and their families, particularly Black girls, examining how cultural and ecological factors influence positive developmental outcomes and how joy and other cultural strengths can be a strategy for the prevention of political violence. Alexandria has been featured in the Washington Post, The Boston Globe and Teen Vogue for her work. Beyond academia, she is a multifaceted facilitator committed to creating a world where joy, healing, and justice are at the center.
