Francisco Cruz

Francisco Cruz is a third-year Ph.D. candidate at the University of Lisbon and an affiliate of the Concepts and Cognition Lab at Princeton University. He is a Foundation for Science and Technology Fellow and a Fulbright Portugal 2024 Scholar. His research interests span multiple literatures and are inherently disciplinary, combining different subfields of psychology with other disciplines, such as philosophy. He is particularly interested in lay beliefs about science in general and psychology in particular, namely beliefs about the extent to which science can and cannot explain phenomena and their underpinnings. His research also explores motivated reasoning in science, trust in non-expert (scientific) testimony, representations of social groups, and cognitive processes underlying face and word perception.
